1. SITUATION: A CESSNA C208 OF CARDINAL EXPRESS WAS CONDUCTING NORMAL
OPERATIONS IN THE SOLOMON ISLANDS. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED HENDERSON
AIRFIELD, GUADALCANAL (AGGH) AT 0801. AT 0845 THE PILOT RADIOED THAT THEY
WERE HAVING DIFFICULTIES. LAST CONTACT WAS WHEN A BROKEN MESSAGE WAS
RECEIVED AT 0903 THAT INDICATED THAT THE CREW WAS STILL ALIVE, BUT THE THE
CONDITION AND LOCATION WERE UNKNOWN. BELOW IS THE FLIGHT PLAN THAT WAS
FILED FOR THE FLIGHT.

2. MISSION: SOD WILL EXECUTE AN AERIAL SEARCH OPERATION BEGINNING
110001ZMAY01 IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE LOCATION AND STATUS OF THE CARDINAL
EXPRESS AIRCRAFT. UPON LOCATING THE AIRCRAFT, EXECUTE RESCUE OPERATIONS TO
RECOVER THE CREW.
3. EXECUTION:
A. CONCEPT OF THE OPERATION: A CAL SOD RESCUE CREW HAS FLOW TO GUADALCANAL. THE CREW CONSISTS OF SEVERAL PILOTS AND THREE EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS. SOD WILL DEPART HENDERSON (AGGH) AND CONDUCT SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS TO FIND THE AIRCRAFT. UPON LOCATING THE AIRPLANE, THE SEARCH AIRCRAFT WILL PARACHUTE THE RESCUE PERSONNEL INTO THE VICINITY OF THE CRASH SITE. THE PERSONNEL WILL ASSESS THE MEDICAL STATUS OF THE C208 CREW AND ATTEMPT TO CREATE A LANDING ZONE TO EVACUATE THE ALL PERSONNEL. NO HELICOPTERS ARE AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.
B. OPERATIONS:
1. FLIGHTS WILL DEPART HENDERSON AIRFIELD, GUADALCANAL (AGGH).
2. PILOTS WILL DETERMINE HOW THEY WILL EXECUTE SEARCH OPERATIONS. USE THE INFORMATION GIVEN IN THE SITUATION TO DETERMINE HOW YOU WILL SEARCH.
C. COORDINATING INSTRUCTIONS.
1. AIRCRAFT TO BE FLOWN WILL BE THE PC-6 PORTER OR DHC-6 TWIN OTTER.
2. UPON LOCATING THE AIRCRAFT, THE SAR AIRCRAFT WILL THEN SETUP TO CONDUCT PARACHUTE OPERATIONS TO GET RESCUE PERSONNEL INTO THE CRASH SITE AND PREPARE A MEANS OF EVACUATION. (NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE YOUR SCENERY AS DESCRIBED IN THE README.TXT FILE IN THE SCENERY PACKAGE!)
3. PERSONNEL PARACHUTE OPERATIONS WILL BE CONDUCTED AT 95 KTS DROP SPEED. THE FIRST PASS WILL BE FOR PERSONNEL AND WILL BE AT AN ALTITUDE OF 1,500 FT. PARACHUTES ARE MANEUVERABLE SO THE DROP WILL BE CONDUCTED OVER THE AIRCRAFT AND THE PARACHUTISTS CAN MANEUVER FOR BEST LANDING. THE SECOND DROP WILL BE 10 MINUTES AFTER THE FIRST DROP AND WILL BE AT AN ALTITUDE OF 300FT TO DROP EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY OVER THE CRASH SITE. PILOT WILL DETERMINE APPROPRIATE DROP HEADING BASED ON SITUATION AND CONDITIONS. PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT ARE RIGGED AND EQUIPPED TO CONDUCT WATER DROPS IF REQUIRED.
4. PILOTS WILL FILE PIREP WITH THE ROUTE NUMBER SOD006.
4. SERVICE AND SUPPORT.
A. GENERAL SUPPORT.
1. FUEL AND SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE AT HENDERSON (AGGH) AND MUNDA (AGGM).
2. ALL OVER WATER FLIGHTS WILL DEPART WITH MAXIMUM FUEL ON BOARD.
3. NO OTHER AIR ASSETS ARE AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.
