Cardinal Airlines has an FS98 fleet second to none in the virtual airlines business. We are constantly searching for superior aircraft models and talking to the original designers to allow us to have the excellent fleet we enjoy. As we progress with the FS2000 version, we will be modifying and adding aircraft specifically for that program. Few models exist at the present time that are worthy of our fleet and you may rest assured when a new one is added, it will be the best available.
Recently, we approved a new livery for
the Cardinal-Express cargo service seen on a DC-10 at the left. As time progresses, we will be adding new FS2000 cargo aircraft with this paint scheme. Some will work with FS98 and some will not. None of the FS2000 turboprop models will work with
FS98 as the new flight simulator version uses a brand new superior model for turboprops. An example of the new cargo livery is shown here on a DC-10. But remember, all the FS98 aircraft will work in FS2000.
We hope you like the realism in this distinctive livery. Look for the new cargo aircraft on the fleet pages as we introdice them. Announcements will be made via our ListBot email servers.
We felt the livery is so much more realistic compared to current real-life aircraft, we have decided to paint our passenger fleet to match. Most of the FS98 aircraft will remain as is but all new aircraft
for FS2000 will pick up this new paint. An example is the new FS2000 Boeing 737-300 shown here. This aircraft is available on our Class C Fleet page.
If you run across a new FS2000 model that would fit into our fleet, please contact your station manager and ask him to pass the information up the chain of command. Our fleet is large and we have many aircraft painted in multiple liveries. Some have textures for the default Cardinal Airlines and for Cardinal-Alaska and special paint for the Caribbean. We have no set schedule to add any new types of aircraft but we will be replacing some of the fleet with new models to keep up with real-world aviation.
Our goal is for all new aircraft added to the Cardinal Airlines fleet to have moving parts, night lighting and to be the best models we can find. Some replacement models that are being looked at now are the Challenger or Gulfstream, CRJ, DHC2 and 6, Beech 1900, Boeing 727F and a DASH-8. As more models become available, we will be evaluating them and will arrange copyright deals with the authors.
For installation of the fleet, we have settled on a scheme where you unzip the files into your flightsim AIRCRAFT directory. By using this method, we can control the folder names so the aircraft you are flying will be seen on-line with multiplayer and Squawkbox. An exception to this is the Cessna 172 training aircraft which unzips into the main Flight Simulator folder to make it easy for inexperienced trainees to install the aircraft/panel package. ALWAYS read the "readme" text file in the downloaded aircraft zip.
Thanks for flying the Cardinal Airlines fleet - We're Going Places!
